New board announcement

by Anton Wijs, Oct. 2, 2018

Recently, a new EAPLS board has been formed. We thank the previous members that recently stepped down. The board will remain committed to supporting the international research community on Programming Languages and Systems by continuing existing activities, as well as work on new initiatives.

Dear all,

It is my pleasure to introduce you to the (largely) new board of EAPLS. Recently, several board members decided it was time for them to step down, and I would like to use this space to explicitly thank them for their efforts and contributions over the years:

  • Mark van den Brand (former president)
  • Tom Crick
  • Jens Knoop
  • Arend Rensink

The new board consists of the following people:

  • Anya Bagge
  • Jurriaan Hage (General Secretary)
  • Dimitris Kolovos
  • Tijs van der Storm (Treasurer)
  • Anton Wijs (President)
  • Andreas Wortmann
  • Nicolas Wu

More information about the board can be found on the EAPLS website under the menu item “EAPLS Topics”.

We believe that it is very important that there is a strong international research community on Programming Languages and Systems, and that EAPLS should stimulate communication between researchers and put a spotlight on excellent research. To this end, we will:

  • continue handing out the annual Best Paper Award at the European Joint Conferences on Theory & Practice of Software (ETAPS);
  • reinstate the annual award for Best PhD thesis in the field of Programming Languages and Systems;
  • consider requests to fund invited speakers at workshops within the EAPLS scope and taking place in Europe.

We are excited to work on the above initiatives in the coming period, as well as to develop new ideas to further support the research community.

On behalf of the EAPLS board,

Anton Wijs

President of EAPLS
