EAPLS is proud to announce that the European Scientific Societies in Informatics is a fact. Over the last year a number of ICT related organizations have had several meetings, Prague, Brussels, and finally Milan. The goal of these meetings was to establish an European umbrella organization for ICT. The European Community has played an active and stimulating role.
The research associations EATCS, EAST and EAPLS took an active role in the establishing this umbrella organization. For the members of EAPLS nothing changes, but via European Scientific Societies in Informatics EAPLS well get a better access to research agendas of the EU.
Besides EATCS, EAST and EAPLS, organizations like ERCIM, Cepis, ACM Europe, EAI, and Informatics Europe will play an active role. The first president of European Scientific Societies in Informatics will be Prof.dr. Jan van Leeuwen (University of Utrecht).
