The School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at UQ comprises of five discipline groups, one of which is Cyber Security and Software Engineering (CSS).  Our CSS group has research foci in areas such as:

  • Trustworthy Operating Systems and Infrastructure – software verification, analysis and testing, with particular interest in low-level systems software such as operating systems, programming languages from high-level semantics to static analysis of binaries, compilers, embedded computing, and potentially hardware verification.
  • Trustworthy AI Systems – including LLM safety and security, privacy-preserving federated learning, and AI for edge computing.
  • AI-driven Cyber Security – the security of autonomous systems such as drones, vehicles and robots, as well as network intrusion detection using AI.
  • Quantum Futures – including post-quantum cryptography, and the development of algorithms, architectures, languages, and application software for quantum computers.
